The VAFA Player Assistance Program offers free counselling services to all current registered VAFA players and umpires. Through our partnership with Converge International, participants can access up to three (3) confidential counselling sessions with a qualified practitioner at no cost. This support is available to help with personal or professional challenges, ensuring players and umpires have the resources they need.

The VAFA is committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all members of its community. We prioritize the well-being of our members by focusing on key areas of welfare, including (1) Mental Health, (2) Child Safeguarding, and (3) Harm Minimisation – Gambling.
Players will also have complimentary access to a range of support resources through the Converge Portal, which all VAFA players and umpires are encouraged to explore. Below is a brief video that walks you through the Converge Portal platform.
The Player Assistance Program will be offered as a 6-month trial to gather valuable insights and data on how best to provide this support to VAFA players and umpires in the future. Rest assured, all information collected through these services is completely confidential, and any data gathered by the VAFA will be anonymized.
