Men's Under 19s footy at the Uni Blacks offers our younger players a fantastic football experience on and off the field — and the success of our 2025 campaign, culminating in a Grand Final appearance, is a clear reflection of the environment we strive to create.
The opportunity to play elite amateur footy at a Club located in the beautiful surrounds of Carlton/Parkville, while developing lifelong friendships, is at the heart of the Uni Blacks experience. 2025 marked a defining chapter in the story of our Men's Under 19s program. Off the back of a huge off-season effort from a dedicated sub-committee, the Under 19s entered the year with strong foundations — and the results spoke for themselves. A Grand Final appearance capped off a season of growth, connection and competitive football, reinforcing that the program is well placed to give all players the best opportunity to experience success both on and off the field.
On field, the Club was thrilled to appoint Harry Balazsy as Under 19s Coach for 2025. New to the Club, Harry proved to be a standout ‘win-win’ fit for both the Blacks and our playing group. With a Bachelor and Diploma of Sport Coaching and Development, extensive junior coaching experience, and a highly regarded internship as a Development Coach at Hawthorn FC and Calder Cannons, Harry brought professionalism, energy and clarity to the role — helping drive the group all the way to a Grand Final while continuing to develop as a coach. We're excited for him to continue that journey with us in 2026.

The Club has also identified the importance of a clear and defined pathway for younger players as they progress from Under 19s into senior football. To support this, the Uni Blacks were delighted to welcome Paddy Byrne as Under 19s Pathway Manager. Paddy’s role focuses on investing in our young players, supporting their development, and ensuring they are equipped with the tools to become the best footballers — and people — they can be.
This program is further strengthened by the ongoing support of Senior Coach Dale Bower, who remains actively involved week-to-week. Match day support from Footy Operations, led by Jeremy Hua, and consistent engagement with the Senior group under Captain Campbell Moorfield — including player mentors, social events and weekly Thursday night dinners at the Clyde Hotel — ensures the Under 19s feel connected to the broader Club from day one.
Off the back of a Grand Final campaign in 2025, the Uni Blacks Under 19s program is an exciting, vibrant and proven environment — and will continue to play a huge role in the future of the Club.
