University Blacks, the most famous name in Amateur football, has momentum.

The Club enters the 2026 season with a genuine sense of excitement and momentum following a solid and encouraging 2025 campaign.

After returning to William Buck Premier in recent seasons, the Blacks continued to build strongly in 2025, with the Senior side finishing 6th on the ladder with 8 wins and 10 losses, remaining competitive throughout the year and laying important foundations for what’s ahead. Our Under 19s enjoyed a standout season, advancing all the way to the Grand Final and showcasing the depth of talent and development coming through the Club.

A major highlight heading into 2026 is the introduction of the Women’s Under 19s program, marking an important step in the Club’s long-term growth and commitment to providing genuine pathways for female footballers at the University of Melbourne. This program will play a key role in shaping the next generation of players and strengthening the future of women’s football at the University of Melbourne.

Across the board, the signs are positive. Recruiting is tracking exceptionally well, with strong numbers on the track and growing enthusiasm around the program — reinforcing the University Blacks as the place to be in 2026. The Reserves and Phoenix programs continue to provide vital depth and opportunity, while our Under 19s — both men’s and women’s — remain a proven breeding ground for the next generation of Blackmen.

With strong engagement, renewed energy, and a clear focus on growth, the Club heads into 2026 well positioned to take the next step.
