The University Blacks in 2023 will again host an Indigenous Round match, as the Club recognise the importance for us to continue our education and journey in this space, having begun originally in 2017 with the VAFA's first ever Indigenous Round.
In 2023, the Club will host St. Kevin's Old Boys on Sunday the 2nd of July, at the University Main Oval, Parkville. The Melbourne University Women's Football Club will also hold their First Nations Round on Saturday 1st of July; both Club's are committed towards continued recognition and celebration of the First Nations connections at Melbourne University Football. The matches will coincide with NAIDOC week taking place.
Traditionally since 2017, the Blacks have held their Indigenous Round during Reconciliation Week. This year, scheduling conflicts at the University Main Oval has meant that the Round has shifted from the May 27th date to July 2nd. Nevertheless the date change has presented a fantastic opportunity to develop our 2023 Indigenous Round to be the best it possibly can be.
Forming part of our Indigenous Round celebration, the Club is looking to invest in and support a new jumper design for our Club to wear during the Round, and to wear with pride for years to come.

Please download this PDF document to read more about the Club's Vision and Purpose in supporting a new jumper design, and we are keen to engage with a local artist that will help our Club create a jumper that "pays respect to Wurundjeri Culture and people, whose lands we play, train and gather on. We would also like it to illustrate our path to Reconciliation as a club and a community."
Former Blacks' Secretary, MUFC Life-member, and inaugural Indigenous Round lead Scott Myers has again taken on responsibility for organising the Round in 2023. We are lucky to have Scott remain involved with the Club in this capacity, as his passion for and drive to make the Indigenous Round the best has been truly valued since its inception. Please contact Scott at scottmyers@uniblacks.org.au for any expressions of interest or feedback on our journey to be better.
