The University Blacks is pleased to announce more 2019 coaching appointments.

Former Brisbane Lions and Essendon player James Polkinghorne will join the Blacks as an assistant coach of the Senior side, looking after the midfield group.

With over 100 games of AFL experience to his name, Uni Blacks Head of Football Adam Pattison said the Club was delighted to secure Polkinghorne's services.

"We're thrilled to have 'Polks' join the club in the next phase of his football journey as he adds to his football experience by developing his coaching," he said.

"He has spent a couple of years away from football and will bring his knowledge and perspective to the senior playing group as midfield coach."

Katie Bailey has been appointed to Development Coach and will work with the Seniors and Reserves to to develop behavioural and mental skills as well as working in goal-setting, which has become a vital area in modern sport.

"Katie works at Movember, comes from a strong sporting family and her skills and character will be a great asset to the club in an area we have identified as an opportunity for us to improve within," Pattison said.

Former Reserves assistant coach Brendan White will take over the Under 19s team, while Mick Farrell will continue on as coach of the Phoenix.

"Whitey is a fantastic club person to have involved as the Unders coach this year. He has a background in teaching and psychology which will translate naturally to coaching a group of young men at the Blacks," Pattison said.

"Mick’s enthusiasm and passion generated a great culture within the Phoenix side last year and we're confident he will build on this momentum and have another successful season."

The Blacks are still searching for an assistant coach to work alongside Brendan with the Under 19s team. If you are interested in the role or know someone who might be, please contact Adam Pattison at apattison@aflplayers.com.au.
