Ray Wilson honoured with OAM

Friday 27 January 2017

University Blacks life member Ray Wilson has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the general division for his service to the community and sport.

Before being recruited by Hawthorn Football Club, Wilson captained University Blacks to consecutive premiership in 1964 (B Grade) and 1965 (A Grade).

Ray has devoted his time to a number of charitable foundations and has previously been a board member of the Victorian Institute of Sport and the AFL Players Association.

Wilson was awarded the Andy Smith Best Clubman Award in 2014 and continues to support the Blacks in the area of player recruitment.

The club would like to congratulate Ray for a richly deserved award and thank both him and his family for their continued support.
