Steve Cerni to coach the Under 19s

The Blacks are delighted to announce that Steve Cerni, celebrated player, coach and clubman, will coach the Under 19s in 2011.  

Steve’s playing career began at Banyule, from where he was recruited by Fitzroy in the VFL (now AFL).   A serious leg injury curtailed Steve’s league career and he was recruited by Uni Blacks.  Steve became known across the VAFA as a significant force to be reckoned with.  Exceptional skills, tremendous courage and a fierce will to win the ball were his trademarks.  

After a celebrated playing career, Steve went on to coach the Blacks Seniors to a Grand Final and impressed all with his knowledge of the game and attention to detail. Since 2005 Steve has been closely involved with our Under 19s in various roles and coached the Blacks Thirds to a Preliminary Final in 2010.
