Jon Ralph wins Blacks Annual Golf Day
16 March 2009
Herald Sun football journalist and former Blacks ruckman Jon Ralph clearly took exception to the pre-publicity for his guest speaking role at the dinner after our our golf day, which had included speculation as to where he was positioned on the short list of the Blacks worst ever ruckmen. Jon took his indignation onto fabulous Kingston Heath, and cleaned up the field to win his first major. In the tradition of another major winner he felt in awe of himself, and proceeded to deliver an outstanding address. In conversation afterwards Mike Fitzpatrick, who as a silent member of the audience absorbed Jon's observations and predictions, was heard to say 'the young bloke seems to get it about right'. As proud as we are of Jon, we would have preferred Fitzpatrick in the ruck.
Thanks again to past player Rod McLean for organizing this outstanding contribution to the Blacks' calendar.
