Blacks Presentation Night Sparkles
Blacks Presentation Night Sparkles
19 October 2010
The Uni Blacks Presentation Night of 2010 was, in short, a ripper.
An extraordinary gathering of chivalry and beauty enjoyed a glittering occasion, featuring some fine speeches, wonderful fare and an electric atmosphere.
The evening was held at Feddish on Federation Square and the venue was filled to capacity thanks to a bumper attendance from players, partners and supporters from all five teams.
The happy crowd became even happier as they warmly applauded the news that Marc Woolnough will again take the reins as senior coach in 2011. A similarly warm round of applause followed the announcement that Mark Bolton will play on in 2011. Indeed even as the players celebrated the deeds of 2010, there was plenty of anticipation regarding season 2011 with a strong sense of determination in the room to follow up on the many gains made this year.
We farewelled Kane Loxley, Matt O’Hara and Aaron Cadd who will not be in Melbourne next year and also Dave Batten who may well be interstate. These four men have been wonderful players and clubmen for several years and we thank them for their outstanding service to the Blacks.
The major awards announced on the night were:
Life Membership Charles Beaton
Cordner Medal Charlie Richardson
Brendan Keilar Medal Dan Costello
Andy Smith Best Clubman Anthony Evans
Congratulations go to all the award winners and thanks to Peter MacDonald, Huw Lacey, Andrew Jesse and Luke van Kempen for organising a fabulous night.
