Blacks Presentation Night Sparkles

The Blacks 2011 Presentation Night was a sparkling affair of the highest order.  Rarely has the red carpet at Rydges been graced with such charm and panache as the happy gathering assembled.

MC Levi Kalms ran a tight ship as all warmly joined in congratulating the award winners and thanking the many and varied contributors to the Blacks in 2011.

Scott Weekley was awarded both the Cordner Medal  and the Brendan Keilar Medal – worthy recognition from coaches and teammates of an outstanding season.  Dave Batten took out the Andy Smith Clubman Trophy – a suitable recognition of 150 games and untold nights at the Blacks Spot microphone.   Life membership was awarded to Steve Cerni with the prolonged standing ovation that greeted the announcement providing the warmest possible endorsement of this honour.

Special tribute was paid to our outgoing coaches in Marc Woolnough and Chris Barrett and retiring players Mark Bolton and Anthony Evans.   Particular recognition was also extended to committeemen good and true Peter MacDonald and Rob Hanna who will be moving into other roles next year.

All in all a super night all round, congratulations to all award winners and warm thanks to Levi, Luke van Kempen and Geoff Newing for organising a thoroughly memorable evening.
