Blacks Golf Day a great success

A record 90 players tackled Kingston Heath last Tuesday, the very day the course was rated No 1 in Australia. Emerging victorious was recently retired past player Glen Thomson with a fabulous 43 stableford points, proving that the absence of any semblance of muscles is no impediment to golfing greatness.

Chairman Justin Gray and captain Mark Bolton welcomed the players at the dinner, and thanked our major sponsor, Bendigo Private Bank, and our prize donors, GarageSmart, TGIF's (both courtesy of Hague Shier) and Village Cinemas (Simon Phillipson). Guest speaker at the dinner, Essendon CEO Ian Robson, threw himself into a vigorous discussion with the numerous experts in the audience. It was a great introduction to the footy season. Ian had warmed up in the afternoon with a 300 metre drive to pocket the long drive prize.

Thanks to past player Rod McLean for another great job in organizing the event. Only a mug would miss next year's golf day.
