Blacks Golf Day Booms

A bumper collection of over 100 eager golfers gathered to tackle the majesty of Kingston Heath at the Blacks Golf Day. With 40 degree temperatures and gale force winds for the first 3 holes, followed by a cool southerly gale and ending with a benign calm, all agreed the weather conditions made for the perfect way to experience Australia's No 1 course. Who needs to go to Ireland or Scotland? Some scintillating play was witnessed on the course as much wit and wisdom was exchanged. Nick Tunbridge ended up with the chocolates (amazingly unmelted) with Alan Fisher runner up. We think Tim Lamb’s longest drive with the early northerly might still be running.

Blacks revered captain Mark Bolton was our genial host for a sparkling evening highlighted by the teriffic tales and fascinating insight into the football world provided by Essendon’s legendary club doctors Bruce Reid and Ian Reynolds. Our heartfelt thanks are extended to Bruce and Ian.

All departed most happy of heart and our warm thanks go to Rod McLean and Kingston Heath. Hearty thanks also to our sponsors who donated prizes, namely Hague Shier from GarageSmart (www.garagesmart.com.au), Bryan Horskins from Barwite Winery (www.barwitevineyards.com.au) and Simon Phillipson from Village Cinemas (www.village.com.au). As usual the day was supported by our fabulous major sponsor, Bendigo Private Bank (rod.styles@bendigobank.com.au 0425 892 364).
