AFL Season Commencement Breakfast, Wednesday 23 March
AFL Season Commencement Breakfast, Wednesday 23 March
7 March 2011
Last year's inaugural breakfast was a full house at the Australian Club. In anticipation that all who attended enjoyed the event and that the word will have spread that the breakfast is the ideal way to top off your preparation for the footy season to commence the following day, we have moved to the larger space of the ANZ Pavillion atthe Arts Centre.
This year our speakers are headed by our own director of coaching, David Parkin. It might seem strange that we can claim an AFL legend such as David as one of our own, but since his son Anthony played with and then so successfully coached the Blacks David has remained close to the club, attending at least half of the matches each season. He has been particularly generous with his time in mentoring our coaches. He has just about claimed the title of the wise old man of football, and it will be a treat to have his thoughts on the issues of the season - the new rules, the new coaches, which clubs to watch, how to beat Collingwood, and maybe even Fev.
Joining David will be Richmond CEO BrendonGale. A champion ruckman, qualified lawyer, ex president and later CEO of the AFLPA, Brendon's insights into AFL/players/club relationships will be insightful. He has wrestled with all the big issues of the game, and now faces the daunting task of lifting the Tigers in a most competitive landscape. The coaching dream team of James Hird and Mark Thompson and Essendon's first round performance in the pre season competition has the Bombers as the 'sexy' team of the moment. Assistant coach Sean Wellman, who followed 180 games for Adelaide and Essendon and All-Australian honours with assistant coaching stints at the Bulldogs and Melbourne, is uniquely placed to tell us what is happening in Bomberland. The morning will again be tied together by MC Tony Wilson, who will have things wound up at 9.00am sharp to allow a timely start to the business day.
As well as providing the chance tocatch up with old team-mates, the breakfast is an ideal opportunity to have you invite friends and business colleagues and clients to join you. We invite you to compare our price of $75 per head with any other like function.
