2012 pre-season off and running
14 December 2011
Season 2012 has started to gain some momentum as players new and old have begun to find their feet under the watchful gaze of new Senior Coach Matt Kempton and assistants Chris Wallace and Luke O'Connell.
The Uni Blacks are mid-way through their December block of pre-season, which is either good news or bad news, depending on whether you're a glass half-full or glass half-empty type of guy.
In line with the coaches ambitions to have the Blacks as one of the fittest B-Grade clubs, training so far has been, well.... hard. As a taste, each session kicks off with 10 minutes of gut-busting core-work, which has sorted out those who let things slip somewhat in the off season!! Fortunately, there has been plenty of footballs involved and the bulk of the hard work (and especially the running) has been done during skills drills or game-based activities. Numbers have been excellent, and the senior group have been well represented.
Pre-Christmas training is being held on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, with our final session before Christmas being held next Wednesday on the Main Oval (which is looking superb) and which will be followed by a Commadeur' Special BBQ.
Hope to see you there!
