Melbourne University Blacks Football Club
The Uni Blacks, who play in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA), are based at the University of Melbourne, in Parkville, Victoria, Australia. The Blacks field senior, reserve, thirds, under 19 (premier division) and club XVIII sides.

When dawn broke on Sunday 16 August 2009, the University Blacks Club XVIII were greeted with suitably apocalyptic conditions. Gale force winds and a foreboding sky created an entirely appropriate backdrop, for this was Judgment Day for the Clubbies – the preliminary final against Old Brighton at Sportscover Arena. For the winner, a place in the grand final awaited. For the loser: oblivion...

Due to an inconvenient quirk of the Club XVIII draw the same two sides lined up at Alec Gillon Oval in a rematch for a Grand Final berth. After a very disappointing loss at the hands of the Marcellin boys that occurred in an outer paddock of the eastern suburbs the previous weekend, the Blackmen were anxious to make amends.
